somewhere in Kalinga

God, me sinulat pala ko poetry? Before, I didn't like poetry. I used to think why not describe things straight as they are? Must've been my background in science. (There is one, though, 'There is a road to liberation,' that I liked in that period but it got lost.)

So here's some that were written in the mountains of Kalinga. Some are illegible but I typed what I thought they were.

March 31

Do you take a rock to plant in the sky to become a sea? (From a dream)

---

Down a ravine we climb
through the restless footpaths
of shifting stones and pebbles and swathes of grass
and bamboo shoots
towards the journey 'home.'

---

Whispering winds, a bird above
singing its song past reading Bob
Caresses of air make the treetops grim
A butterfly flutters on a coffee bean

Two insects of different species wage war
with messages in the wind
groundwater flows through architecture
(A playful puppy peeks through a rock)
And so at noon in a laid back way
A serene nature concert play.

---

Attracted by carbon dioxide/ hot exhaled air
buzzing as if to open a different dimension
With a speed that defies my open palmed hands
insects with proboscis through skin tear
to root out hunger through abundant food
my fresh and golden blood.

---

Sleepers awake! You have nothing to win but your dreams!

---

Coffee beans in mathematical formation
Crimson-pink in adoration
of the sun in maturation
of the winds in copulation
to give us the gift of awakening.
